Medical Biller

The Medical Biller is responsible for ensuring the preparation and submission of clean claims daily for all assigned hospitals in an electronic or paper format.  

Skills Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of hospital billing experience required.
  • Working knowledge of electronic claims editing software (SSI, ePremis, DSG, CPSI and Emdeon preferred). CPT4 codes, ICD9 codes, UB04, HCFA, Medical Terminology as well as rules and guidelines (State, Federal) governing claim processing.
  • Uses independent and critical thinking skills to achieve assigned objectives.  
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.  Attention to detail.  Ability to be accurate and timely. 
  • Specific knowledge of Commercial, Third Party Insurance Accounts including but not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, HMO, PPO, Auto and Work Comp.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Proficiency in the use of a 10-key.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Medical Billing and Coding certificate a plus.
