Medical Collections


The Medical Collections Team Member is responsible for ensuring timely reimbursement for hospital billed claims. Outstanding customer service skills and disciplined, organized individuals are required for this position.

Job Duties

  • Conduct account activity on final billed claims by contacting government agencies, third party payers, and patients/guarantors via phone, email or online.
  • Timely follow-ups on all accounts assigned in automated work list per established procedures until account is resolved, sent to legal, or disputed.
  • Ensure proper account documentation which is clear, concise and includes all pertinent information.
  • Maintains or exceeds 95% of established goals and quality standards.
  • Follows and maintains patient, account and client confidentiality at all times.  Adheres to HIPAA and Compliance Policy Procedures.


  • CPSI software experience a plus
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Customer Service experience required.
  • 6 months of medical field collections and/or college level course work in the medical field with medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of Commercial, Third Party Insurance Accounts including but not limited to Medicaid, Managed care, HMO, PPO, Auto and Workers Comp.
  • Medical Billing and Coding Certificate a plus.
